Blog Post 2 Inspection: Video Introduction: Paisley Gets Her Groovy Back // 1963 Kenskill

The DMV paperwork was in hand and my first move as owner was to get an appointment to have the axel, wheels, brakes and frame inspected. Even though the trailer’s new home is only approx 2.3 miles away from where it sat for more than 30 years, moving the trailer would require a flat bed tow truck and a proper inspection by a mechanic to advise on it’s road-worthiness. I had determined that the place to go was Baja Trailers in Gardena but they were full up so all I could do was put us on the waiting list.

On WED OCT 14 my Dad and I met two fab tow truck guys to move the trailer away from the cinderblock wall corner and the tree that had grown wider at the point of the trailer’s tongue. We considered many different approaches but in the end we (they! :)) changed the flat, cleared away the leaves, scared away a possum and then used the wheel lift at the center like a fork lift, which swung it a safe distance from the back wall. Then the winch cable was used to spin it away from the tree. Finally, the trailer straightened out on the pad and rolled to the street and was pulled up onto the flatbed.

The ladies were there to oversee the operation and through tears they said they would miss here but were happy that she was in good hands — and by this time she had a name: Paisley.
