Blog Post 6: Shower Wall Removal: Paisley Gets Her Groovy Back// 1963 Kenskill
Paisley is in her beautiful new in-yard park-up spot and the work continues…
The shower area was host to many a mouse house party so I gotta get into the walls around the metal shower stall and that meant taking down the wall. I got a little sneak peek of what grossness was to be found when Dave gave me a real “Aha Moment for a Dummy”: the cool little tapestry that I left hanging on wall (so I could be reminded of the groovy) well, that was a panel covering the access to the shower hardware - duh.
And so with that hole open there was an ASAP operation of removing that wall for next step, shower removal. All this is done very carefully since plan is to actually fix it all up and put it all right back in … we’ll see. Task complete but now I need Dave’s next assist in unhooking the drain pipe and toilet plate-thingy.
Dad and I spent a bunch of time removing the toilet but we couldn’t get past the plate, but once that’s gone, the toilet step up is the next ASAP operation and possibly the toilet area panel ceiling (I suspect the rodents got in there too - ugh).
With these steps, I’m getting really close to having a solid appreciation of all the compromised areas and she’ll be opened up enough to bring in the pros to look at the gas, electric and water lines.
So grateful for these blue sky days — all the windows are open — gotta air this baby out! I did purchase the big tarp so if needed, we got it, hopefully that’s not anytime soon. X B
